FRB began Heart of the Hill in 2007 as a way to share our experiences and those of our volunteers with decision makers in Washington, DC. We do this by establishing relationships with elected representatives and other relief and development agencies.
It is our hope that the voice of FRB, our community growing project volunteers and overseas guests will cultivate greater awareness, understanding and support for our and others' efforts to grow lasting solutions to hunger. This handbook is helpful for anyone planning to travel with us to DC, and this document provides FRB's recommendations for decision makers in Washington.
FRB plans to have at least 40 volunteers travel to Washington, DC each year to meet with representatives, administration officials, various departments and other organizations. Heart of the Hill
Heart of the Hill offers monthly opportunities for volunteers to go to Washington D.C. and visit with their members of congress to discuss issues around hunger and poverty. Please see side menu for more on Heart of the Hill.
